This web catalog provides bibliographic access to a rich collection of Punjab University central and departmental libraries.


List of Microfilms

There are 1273 microfilm rolls and thousands of microfiches. Microfilms hold material in english and oriental languages. In English language portion, along with other books and derails, there are some valuable catalogues of collections i.e. European manuscripts, John Lawrence, Hamilton, Lansdown, Morley, Lord Cross, North Brook, Johnson, Elliot, Curzon, Johnson, Elphinstone and Elgin etc.


Catalogue of Sanskrit Manuscripts

The collection of manuscripts in Sanskrit, Hindi, etc. is 8,671 volumes. This is the largest collection of Sanskrit manuscripts in Pakistan.


Mian Jamil Ahmad Sharqpuri Naqshbandi Mujaddadi Compelete Vols.1-4

It contains 5250 books. The books are in Urdu, Arabic, Persian and Punjabi languages, and some in English. It covers the subjects of the Holy Quran, Tafseer, Hadith, Fiqh, History, and Mysticism.


Catalogue of Maman Collection

Late Abdul Aziz Maimon (d. 1978) was a great scholar and donated Rs. 1,00,000/- to the University in 1975. 1157 books on Arabic literature and reference have so far been gathered in this regard.


Web OPACs of Different Universities in Pakistan

Pakistan Library Automation Group (PakLAG) a not-for-profit trust, provided a list of pakistani universities’ web OPACS.

ASTM

The ASTM Standards & Engineering Digital Library is a vast collection of industry-leading standards and technical engineering information. It covers a broad range of engineering disciplines, including aerospace, biomedical, chemical, civil, environmental, geological, health and safety, industrial, materials science, mechanical, nuclear, petroleum, soil science and solar engineering.



AMERICAN MATHEMATICAL SOCIETY (AMS)

Provides full-text online access to its four journals as well as the MathSciNet database.Covers international mathematical literature dating back to 1940, providing access to the bibliographic data and reviews of mathematical literature contained in the Mathematical Reviews database.



AMERICAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY (APS)

APS provides access to 9 prestigious research publications. Includes the five-specialist Physical Review Publications, and the PROLA archive.



ASSOCIATION OF COMPUTING MACHINERY (ACM)

The ACM contains full-text from 28 ACM Journals and Transactions, 10 ACM Magazines, over 40 ACM Special Interest Newsletters, 15 non-ACM journal and publications and over 100 annual conference proceedings. Content strengths include all areas of Information Technology, with full archival content for all ACM publications.



American Association of Physics Teacher – AAPT

AAPT was established in 1930 with the fundamental goal of ensuring the 'dissemination of knowledge of physics, particularly by way of teaching.' Founders, Homer L. Dodge, Paul E. Klopsteg, and William S. Webb, led the effort to organize the first association dedicated to improving physics education. Today that vision is supported by members around the world.



International Forestry Review

The International Forestry Review is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal that publishes original research and review papers on all aspects of forest policy and science, with an emphasis on issues of transnational significance. It is published four times per year, in March, June, September and December. Theme editions are a regular feature and attract a wide audience. ProQuest Business Premium Collection

Trial Access from 15th November 2016 - 31 March 2017

ESDU collection is based on industry standard tools and software as part of teaching and research projects. They are also key design elements in many of the largest engineering industries. ESDU provide validated engineering design data, methods and software for the engineer. ESDU can assist the rapid development of new courses and add a variety and depth to existing courses and projects. The ESDU University guide's highlights relevant data for each engineering discipline and gives examples of assignments that may be adapted by the teacher; without copyright restriction.



Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS)

INFORMS publishes 11 scholarly journals, including a journal for the practice of OR/MS (Interfaces), as well as an on-line open access journal (INFORMS Transactions on Education).

NRC Research Press Journals Online

Online Journals in a broad range of research area. It provides full text of 16 online journals with back files dating back to 2001 in most cases.



PROJECT MUSE

Project MUSE provides online access to 430 full-text journals from 108 publishers in humanities and social science. MUSE pricing meets library needs around the world.



Brill

Brill publishes 200 journal titles - including 16 e-only titles and 6 full open access titles - focused on Humanities and Social Sciences, International Law and selected areas in the Sciences. 6 fully OA journals and OA articles in hybrid journals.



SIAM

SIAM fosters the development of applied mathematical and computational methodologies needed in these various application areas. Applied mathematics in partnership with computational science is essential in solving many real-world problems. Through publications, research, and community, the mission of SIAM is to build cooperation between mathematics and the worlds of science and technology. SCIENCE ONLINE

Provides access to the full text of the prestigious Science publication. It allows users to search within Science and across a multitude of scientific journals. Provided to selected public-sector universities in Pakistan on the basis of identified research requirements.



SPRINGER LINK

SpringerLink provides access to 503 full-text Springer-Verlag Journals and 738 full-text journals formerly published by Kluwer Academic Publishing. One of the world's leading information services for Science, Technical and Medical journals.



UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO PRESS

The Journals Division publishes journals and serials in a wide range of disciplines, including several journals that were the first scholarly publications in their respective fields.



WILEY-BLACKWELL JOURNALS

Wiley-Interscience is an STM (Science, technology, and Medicine) and SSH (Social Sciences and Humanities) publisher. Introduced in 1997, Wiley InterScience is a leading international resource for scientific, technical, medical and scholarly content.

In June 2008, Wiley InterScience incorporated the online content formerly hosted on Blackwell Synergy to provide access across 1,234 journals in science, technology, medicine, humanities and social sciences. Since the Blackwell-Synergy merger with Wiley-Interscience, all the journals available to HEC consortium are now available through Wiley-Interscience.





IMF ELIBRARY

The IMF is viewed as one of the world’s most authoritative sources for economic information, analysis and harmonized statistics. IMF eLibrary provides comprehensive data and original analysis, with coverage of almost every economy in the world and a special focus on developing and emerging economies.





PU Digital Library Program

Library is providing free digital library facility to its users. This is open source software which uses mysql and tomcat softwares. This digital library currently holds 32,000+ full text records of thesis, articles, books, CDs/DVDs. Users can access and download their required material within the premises of library. Library staff gathers material of various types and feed it into digital library program for further downloading. There are various ways to get the material for this program as following:

Open Access Material on Internet

Library staff receives demands of users for their required material and search through internet to get them. Upon successful retrieval of required items, one copy delivers to concerned student and adds in digital library collection as well.

CDs/DVDs Collection

Library has a collection of CDs/DVDs. These CDs are as accompanying material along with foreign purchased books. Students can read and write this material free of charges. Most of the CD collection is related to science subjects, however CDs related to IELTS, TOEFL, GRE and English dictionaries etc. are also available. Metadata of this CDs/DVDs collection is available into digital library catalogue.

Digitized Collection

Library holds manuscripts, newspapers, rare items and other documents of historical importance in its collection. These items need to be preserved for future use and to fulfill the research needs of researchers in country or from abroad. In all this process, intellectual property and copyright laws are keenly observed. Metadata of this digitized collection is available into digital library catalogue.

Donations

Many library users share their digital collection with library administration for the help and sharing with other students. Library staff enters such material in digital library for sharing with other users.

How to Access Digital Library

  • Library users can use Internet Lab of the library or can connect their laptops with library server through Wi-Fi.
  • Open pulibrary.edu.pk
  • Click on Services button and choose (PU Digital Library)
  • Choose your required document type in Document Type field of home screen.
  • Write your required information in fields of title, author, keyword etc.
  • Press Search Button and get the results.
  • Click on your desired result and download it.
  • For any assistance, please contact in Preservation and Conservation section.


Request for a New Book

Please download the Performa to suggest a book and acquire the recommendation of your head of the department. Submit the dully filled and recommended Performa at the Readers Services Desk of the library.

We will consider to purchase the title but we cannot guarantee it will be purchased in case the title is out of print or any other clash with the collection development policy of the library.

Newspapers index

Punjab University library is providing an indexing service 'Newspapers Index' since September 2002. It is a subject index compiled by the professional librarians working in the Punjab University library. Newspapers articles on different subject are arranged alphabetically. The index covers seven major English newspapers Khaeej Times, Dawn, financial times, The Nation, The News, Business Recorder and Daily Times.

Library is offering the current index as well as the archives and a cumulative index . In addition to that hard and soft copies of the indices are also available in the Serial section of the library.



Turnitin Service

Punjab University administration has declared Chief Librarian, Punjab University Library (PUL) as focal person for Turnitin issues for HEC. The University has given the responsibility to Chief Librarian of issuing certificate to research works as plagiarism free. In this context, all M.Phil, Ph.D dissertations and faculty research publications are bound to get plagiarism free certificate before their submission in the University. To make this process convenient, Turnitin accounts have been created for faculty members and departmental librarians. Research scholars can contact to their supervisor or departmental librarian to pass through their research work from Turnitin before applying for final certificate.


Procedure to get certificate

1) Head of department have the authority to send research work of their faculty member or research scholar along-with a CD packed in a sealed envelope to Chief Librarian.
2) This CD must have title page, abstract and all chapters. This CD should be labeled with title and author name. Our IRC section will receive the request and check CD on spot to ensure the availability of required information.
3) As per HEC guidelines, acknowledgement, table of contents, bibliography, references, appendices and running title etc. should be removed from research work before their uploading in Turnitin so these items should be removed before writing the research work on CD for submission to the Chief Librarian office.
4) IRC section will examine the results of Turnitin as per HEC criteria and if it is according to the criteria, the research content will be submitted in Turnitin student paper repository and a plagiarism free certificate will be issued to the author name and send it to concerned head of department through proper channel.
5) Turnitin student paper repository ID will be mentioned on the certificate as an evidence. Certificates are issued on first come, first serve basis without any un-necessary delay.
